SecuMail-Blog

More than 500,000 e-mails per day.

For the first time, SecuMail scans over half a million e-mails per day.

In addition to solid growth of a good 30% per year, another recent development has contributed to reaching this mark. Currently, spam botnets seem to be trying to circulate as much spam as possible with a concerted action. The volume of unsolicited advertising e-mails rose to an unusually high level on Thursday (25 April). In January of last year, a similar pattern was temporarily observed, but on a less massive scale. These actions are probably aimed at overloading the mail gateways and spam filters of the companies. They speculate that their admins prefer to deactivate the filter systems for the moment in order to maintain a reasonably normal e-mail operation for the users. This would result in an unhindered delivery of mass spam. Apparently, “quantity before quality” is the motto, because despite the unusually high number, SecuMail currently fishes out the spam without any problems, regardless of the quantity. We currently measure a filtered spam percentage of about 80% as an average across all customers.
