Phishing
Phishing stands for “password fishing” and is a method of social engineering. Through a made-up story such as “Your account has been blocked” or “Suspension of your credit card”, the recipient of the email is tricked into revealing his password.
How do you recognize phishing mail?
You should always analyze incoming emails, especially before opening attachments or links. To avoid a phishing attack, pay attention to the following points:
- In which language was the email written? If you are one at a Deutsche Bank, they have no reason to send you an email in another language.
- Does the sender’s email address make sense? Most companies use email formats such as Name@firma.de or support@firma.de.
- Even if they are not addressed by name, they should be skeptical.
- If an email asks them to act urgently, and even a deadline, they should be very careful. Any kind of threat and urgency are a strong indication that the email is a phishing email
