JSON

JavaScript Object Notation is a language-independent, human- and machine-readable and very compact format for serialized data exchange via ASCII. JSON includes a set of formatting rules for the portable representation and transport of structured data, e.g. for remote procedure calls between a frontend and a backend service with different architecture.

The original definition was the JSON definition by Douglas Crockford. Currently, JSON is defined by the RFC 8259 and ECMA-404 standards
