SSL
Secure Socket Layer
SSL is a protocol that encrypts the communication between your computer and a server.
Common areas of application are encrypted websites (https://…) and transport encryption between e-mail servers.
The term SSL/TLS is often used, but TLS is nothing more than the further development of the SSL protocol. However, since the term SSL is better known, it is still used.
You can check whether your mail server supports SSL/TLS and the configuration corresponds to the state of the art in our mail server check .
