Better protection against phishing attacks with Google Safe Browsing

What is phishing?

Many scammers no longer simply send malicious files to gain access to your network, but rely on the credulity of email users. In doing so, they try to get users to “voluntarily” release passwords or other relevant data. But how do they do it?

The attackers try to use fake information to persuade the recipient to hand over personal data. Apparently, these are mostly serious emails. For example, they ask you to update access or check an invoice. To do this, you should click on a button that leads to the login screen of a well-known presumptuous website.

In a hurry or habit, you quickly entered your username and password. But at that moment, the attacker has tapped the data and you are redirected to the real website to disguise the scam.

Protection against phishing with SecuMail and now also with Google Safe Browsing

Google provides a large database of URLs that lists websites and IP addresses that engage in phishing or on which malware can be found. This database is updated live by Google to warn of as many current dangers as possible.

Emails containing corresponding URLs are immediately identified as spam, because Google Safe Browsing is now also part of the SecuMail checks. So that you and your company are even better protected against phishing. No personal data will be sent.

You may already be familiar with Google Safe Browsing (GSB) from your browser, as Firefox and Google Chrome also use the GSB API.
